The Call Up

President Obama yelling at Presidential Candidates after they do nothing to stop the booing of gay soldiers. 

The more I think about it, the more I realize how freaking brilliant it was to make Don’t Ask Don’t Tell the entree to defending gay rights.  Gay or not, booing or badmouthing soldiers is tantamount to political suicide; it simply doesn’t play.  If your campaign centerpiece on equality has to do with defending the rights of soldiers, it completely shuts down opposition rhetoric.  There is simply no way to come out of the other end of a tirade against gay soldiers and look good.  And then you’ve practically made gay rights as sacred as the VA, it becomes American and patriotic to defend homosexuality.  Whoever cooked that one up deserves a raise.
